earlier this week, apple released a new version of itunes. being the huge mac fan i am, i downloaded it immediately. i use itunes to organize my insanely large music collection. my itunes library swells to several hundred gigs. so this was huge for me. one of the new features in itunes 8 is genius playlists. and i’m enjoying them so much, i thought i’d share it with yall. 

itunes genius is basically an automatic smart playlist builder based on your music library. you pick a base song and click the genius button. the genius will build you a playlist comprised of different songs in your library that compliment your base song. 

despite the occasional miscue, the genius is pretty accurate. i’ve been using it all week to create my playlists.
